Siemkje Batenburg

Siemkje Batenburg has been a civil-law notary partner at Buma | Algera Notariaat since 1 January 2026. With this appointment, she has returned to the firm where her notarial career originally began. Siemkje focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate and real estate–related transactions. She advises a broad range of national and international clients on (commercial) real estate transactions, (re)financings and real estate development. In addition, she guides clients through processes involving legal due diligence, (sub)division into apartment rights, ground lease rights and superficies rights, and other forms of property rights, relating to both existing registered properties and undeveloped land. Siemkje is known for her thorough legal approach, strategic insight and her ability to structure complex transactions in a clear and efficient manner. Her clients include institutional investors, banks, developers, real estate agents, family offices, private equity funds and financial (investment) institutions. These clients are active in investing in and financing residential portfolios, business premises, retail locations, leisure and hospitality assets, logistics real estate, as well as solar and wind parks.

After completing her studies in Notarial Law at Leiden University, Siemkje began her career as a candidate civil-law notary in late 2003 at Boekel De Nerée and subsequently at Buma | Algera Notariaat. Between 2015 and 2025, Siemkje worked at the international law firm Simmons & Simmons LLP in Amsterdam, where she was appointed as a partner in 2022. In addition to her notarial practice, Siemkje serves as an auditor for the Royal Dutch Notarial Association.
